First firmware release for Peblar Dual

3 November 2026 Peblar

Firmware 1.10.1 for Dual is the first field release for the DUAL system. It contains support for specific DUAL features such as custom logos, dynamic QR-code payment, automatic phase rotation, RCD-A support and functionality related to supporting two sockets instead of one.

These notes focus on the additional functionality that differs from, or extends, the familiar Peblar single socket experience.

Update the charger through Connect Hub or the web interface to benefit from the latest functionality, diagnostics and stability improvements.

What’s new for Peblar Dual

The key functionalities introduced in this release are:

  • Two-socket operation and internal load distribution: Peblar Dual manages two charging sockets in one charge point. Its internal balancing logic distributes the available current across both connectors while keeping the charger within its configured limit.
  • Group load balancing: Group load balancing is done on charger level. Available power is distributed dynamically between its two connectors, while their combined consumption remains within the limit provided by the configured measurement source on charger level.
  • Automatic phase rotation: For single-phase vehicles, Peblar Dual can assign charging to phase L1, L2 or L3. After a vehicle is connected, the internal balancer detects phase usage and can rotate the connection to improve energy distribution across sockets.
  • On-screen language selection: Drivers can select their preferred language directly on the graphical display. At this moment Dual supports: English, Dutch, French, German and Danisch.
  • Built-in RCD-A with on-screen RCD-A reset: The charger has an build-in RCD-A which simplifies installation and allows for a digital reset. If the built-in RCD-A trips, and the charger concludes that there are no failure mode blocking a reset, anybody can perform a reset via a prompt on the touchscreen.
  • Custom Logo content on the graphical display: Show your company logo on the charger screen. First, host the logo at a URL that the charger can access. Then set CustomLogoUrl to that URL. Setting this configuration(CustomLogoUrl) triggers the charger to download the logo and display it on screen. The image must be a PNG file and no larger than 100 kB.
  • Contact details on screen: Show support contact information on the information page of the graphical user interface and when the charger enters a system-level fault mode. Contact info can be freely configured in a string via config key ContactDetail.
  • QR-based ad hoc charging: Configure QRPaymentURLTemplate to show a (dynamic) QR code that directs the driver to a web based charging start flow. Configure a QR template URL via OCPP and the DUAL will show a QR code to start charging. It supports using TOTP for optimal security. Time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) is supported for optimal security. The following configuration keys can be used for this purpose: TOTPSharedSecret, TOTPLength and TOTPValidityTime.
  • Scheduled charging: Scheduled charging is configured for the complete Dual rather than separately for each socket. Time-block current limits therefore apply at charger level.
  • Solar charging: The built-in solar strategy is intended for one site with one Dual and local solar generation. It cannot be combined with Group Load Balancing; larger multi-charger solar installations require an external energy-management solution.
  • Ethernet daisy chain: The Dual chargers have an embedded switch with 2 external network ports. This allows daisy-chaining network cables and eliminates an external switch with large bundles of network cables in star topology.

Connectivity improvements

  • WebSocket compression: Firmware 1.10 supports the OCPP 1.6 WebSocket compression extension defined by RFC 7692 (permessage-deflate). When the backend supports the extension and the key WebSocketCompressionEnable is enabled, OCPP websocket traffic can be reduced significantly (up to 80%).
  • Web interface identification: The charge point ID is now visible on the web-interface login screen, making it easier to identify the charger during commissioning and support.

Security updates and bug fixes

  • Reliability: This release improves socket behavior, diagnostics and overall system stability.
  • Security: Minor security updates implemented.

What to expect in future firmware updates

The following software capabilities are not fully available in Firmware 1.10:

  • Modbus APIs: configuration options may be visible, but the API is not yet fully implemented (available in the near future).
  • Custom-logo upload via web-interface: uploading a logo file directly through the web interface is not yet available; use CustomLogoUrl (available in the near future).
  • Dynamic Load Balancing (BOP): not yet implemented. For a single Dual, Group Load Balancing can provide comparable control across its two connectors.
  • Optimized Group Load Balancing: phase rotation occurs locally at charger level; leader-directed phase selection on socket level is not yet available.
  • Wi-Fi mesh networking: not yet available.
